“Frankfurt is full of curiosities.” These words were written by none other than Frankfurt’s favourite son, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, in describing his hometown. One of the most interesting curiosities is without a doubt his birthplace, rebuilt in full at the end of the Second World War. All those interested in finding out more about the life and times of Germany’s most celebrated poet and author are urged to pay a visit to the Goethe-House, replete with period furniture, artefacts from his childhood and youth as well as countless stories about the man himself. The guided tour offers interesting facts on his favourite places, the package even including his favourite meal.
