This city walk through the old town centre (Römerberg) focuses on Frankfurt history, incl. its role as an electoral site for German-Roman kings and host city for the coronation ceremonies of Holy Roman emperors (cathedral). Frankfurt's tradition as a free trade city and its role in the first German National Assembly held here in 1848 are also highlighted (St. Paul's Chruch).

NEW 2012: The Station District: Frankfurt's Melting Pot

The formerly mundane station district was originally established at the end of the 19th century, serving as an important international traffic and transport hub. The name of its most significant street, “Kaiserstraße” (Emperor’s Street), connecting the station district with downtown Frankfurt, reminds one of the quarter’s former grandeur. Here, beneath Frankfurt’s imposing skyline, one finds a sort of urban microcosmos. Frankfurt’s station district, spanning only half a square kilometre, is home to people from 180 countries.
Come and take a closer look at one of Frankfurt’s most unusual and entertaining quarters. You’ll definitely be surprised!

Frankfurt apple wine is known far and wide as the locals’ beverage of choice. Our special theme tour, which covers happenings on both sides of the River Main, vividly tells the story of Frankfurt apple wine and its traditions in Old-Sachsenhausen, while also taking a closer look at the production process.

Goethe was a Frankfurt native: “On the 28th of August, 1749, at the stroke of midday, I was born into the world in Frankfurt am Main.” In his autobiography, entitled “From My Life. Poetry and Truth”, Goethe shares stories from his colourful life, focusing in particular on the time between 1749 and 1775. This excellent guided tour also takes a closer look at the Frankfurt of Goethe’s time.
