Special Events

This summer, countless festivals will once again be attracting out-of-town visitors to Frankfurt am Main. The time-honoured Main Festival, which was first held in 1340, is particularly impressive, as is the Museum Embankment Festival, which focuses attention on the city’s magnificent museum row along the River Main while also presenting on both riverside promenades an open-air array of live music, cabaret, variety and culinary specialities from around the world.

Frankfurt am Main played a significant role during the social revolution of 1968. Its history, its development, its ideas, its actions and its effects on present-day society are at the core of a unique exhibition on show at the Historical Museum of the City of Frankfurt.
