László Moholy-Nagy, the renowned Hungarian painter and photographer, first gained fame during his time at the State Bauhaus School in Dessau, where he taught from 1923 to 1928. SCHIRN Kunsthalle Frankfurt now presents a comprehensive retrospective of the man and his work, based on some 170 paintings, photographs, photograms, sculptures, films, typography and stage designs, thereby offering art enthusiasts a complete look at the artist, his era and his creations.

Sandro Botticelli (ca. 1445 - 1510) is without a doubt one of the leading figures of the Italian Renaissance. The Städel Museum now presents a selection of portraits, mythological allegories and depictions of the Virgin Mary, comprising approximately 80 works by Botticelli, his workshop and his contemporaries. The exhibition also marks the first time the great master has been on comprehensive display on German soil.

A special highlight is the Museum Embankment Festival, which focuses attention on the city’s magnificent museum row along the River Main while also presenting on both riverside promenades an open-air array of live music, cabaret, variety and culinary specialities from around the world.

The Rheingau in Frankfurt: Yes, it’s that time again! Very soon, some 30 winegrowers from the nearby Rheingau region will be presenting their wares in downtown Frankfurt. The wine list ranges from the finest vintages all the way to light and effervescent summer wines. Aside from the renowned Riesling, the most famous of all Rheingau wines, guests will be able to taste many other fine drops as well as a variety of culinary delights.

Every autumn, Frankfurt am Main honours one of its most significant trade shows – the Frankfurt Book Fair. During this time, the city is transformed into a literary festival of special magnificence, featuring readings, lectures, podium discussions, forums and other cultural offerings with artists and authors from all across the globe. The Frankfurt Book Fair pays homage not only to the world of literature, but also to the literary scene of the Main metropolis, which to this day remains alive and well.

The ideal beauty of his mythological figures and the elegant grace of his Virgin Mary depictions have made the works of Sandro Botticelli the epitome of Florentine painting in the Golden Age of the Medici Family. Anyone interested in combining the beauty of Renaissance art with the appeal of Frankfurt am Main should take advantage of this great opportunity and book a Botticelli Weekend for two while the time is ripe.

The Struwwelpeter, or “Shock-Haired Peter”, is famous around the world. Less is known about his creator, Heinrich Hoffmann, a Frankfurt native born and bred. To commemorate his 200th birthday, the Frankfurt Tourist+Congress Board is happy to present a brand-new city tour, entitled “Heinrich Hoffmann and the Literary Figures of Frankfurt’s West End”. This picturesque city district, which remained largely untouched during the air raids of World War II, is known to have been home to countless authors and artists over the past centuries, including Heinrich Hoffmann, the popular writer of children’s books.
