A weekend of art and culture including admission to the Städel Museum, overnight accommodation and the Frankfurt Card
This exhibition, on show at the world-famous Städel Museum, focuses on the oeuvre of Vincent van Gogh within the context of its German reception.
Germany played a key role in the Dutch master’s success story. Here, he was perceived as one of the most significant representatives of modern art much earlier than in other countries.
The point of departure of this exhibition is a selection of van Gogh’s major works. By juxtaposing his masterpieces with the paintings of famous German artists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Paula Modersohn-Becker, van Gogh’s role as a key figure in the German avant-garde is brought to the fore.
