Frankfurt is a truly green city. About half of its urban area consists of natural landscapes of one form or another, ensuring that up to 80 percent of the city's population have a public green space no more than 300 metres from their front door. Those who look more closely will also find palm trees along the River Main, sand dunes on the city's famous "GreenBelt", a biotope at the Old Aerodrome, not to mention countless urban parks and extensive stretches of forest.
The special events industry is an ardent supporter of the concept of sustainability. The term "green meetings" stands for sustainable events and an environment-friendly range of venues. It covers the areas of mobility, energy and climate, resources, catering and communication.
