IDEE #8: Imperial Frankfurt
On the historical Römerberg, old IDEAS are being turned into new reality. Here, Frankfurt is rebuilding its old town, including the former coronation route, according to the original plans. Back in 1356, Charles IV decreed that Frankfurt serve as the site of imperial elections. A total of 10 coronations took place at the Frankfurt Cathedral. After the ceremony, the festive procession would follow the imperial route from the cathedral to the town hall, the Römer.
