Travelling by train with Deutsche Bahn – fast, easy, and inexpensive
Various train types run on the Deutsche Bahn network: Intercity Express (ICE) trains are the fastest, the most modern, and the most comfortable. With a top speed of up to 300 km/h, they set high standards in speed, technology and comfort. Intercity (IC) and Eurocity (EC) trains operate as long-distance trains and connect the most important German and European cities. Within the various regions of Germany, such as metropolitan or rural areas, regional and suburban trains ensure connectivity for passengers.
ICE trains let you travel affordably and quickly from Berlin to Frankfurt in 4 hours. You can also reach Frankfurt from major European cities such as Paris and Amsterdam in 3:50 hours. From Brussels you can travel to Frankfurt in less than 3 hours.
Deutsche Bahn´s 1st and 2nd class offer designated quiet areas, on-board catering, top entertainment via the ICE-Portal and free WiFi. Deutsche Bahn´s 1st class enables comfortable travelling. Spacious seats are as inviting for work as they are for relaxation. The extensive range of services in 1st class includes seat reservations, access to DB lounges (Flexpreisticket), free daily newspapers, a relaxed atmosphere and unlimited WiFi access. Guests can order a selection of meals and drinks directly at their seat.
Deutsche Bahn offers simple and comfortable travel as well as a range of special offers and discounts.Deutsche Bahn's Super Sparpreis (super saver fare) is an ongoing special offer for Germany, available from EUR 19.90 and subject to availability. Sparpreis (saving fare) is already available from EUR 23.90. Starting from a distance of over 100 km, the City Ticket is also included in over 120 cities. With Flexpreis (flex price), you have no train-bound and can exchange and cancel free of charge until the 1st day of validity without any risk.
Travelling by train reduces CO2 emissions more drastically than most other means of transport. Today, around 140 million long-distance passengers already use 100 percent green electricity. By 2038, DB plans to operate all trains exclusively with green electricity. And by 2050, Deutsche Bahn aims to be CO2-free.
