Frankfurt Christmas Market
27 November – 21 December 2023
With its sheer size and vast number of visitors, the Frankfurt Christmas Market is one of the largest and most popular Christmas markets in all of Germany. Elaborate and creative stand decorations, the picturesque settings of St Paul's Square and the Römerberg old town centre and the massive Christmas tree combine to also make the Frankfurt Christmas Market one of the most beautiful in all the land.
Opening hours
Mondays - Saturdays | 10:00 am - 9:00 pm |
Sundays | 11:00 am - 9:00 pm |
Location
Römerberg, St Paul's Square, Main Quay, Hauptwache, Friedrich Stoltze Square
At Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, the action will once again be splashed in pink. Themed "Pink Christmas", this very individual section of the Frankfurt Christmas Market features food and beverage stands, sales stalls as well as other highlights, all of them being very popular with the Rhine-Main region's LGBTQ+ community. This "market within a market" is of course not only intended for this particular target group, but welcomes visitors of all ages and walks of life. By means of illumination, decoration and design, the Pink Christmas Market exudes a flair whose appeal guarantees a wide radius of interest and effect.
There are also many Christmas stalls to be found at the Hauptwache. A visit is very worthwhile, as Frankfurt's largest shopping mile, the Zeil pedestrian promenade, situated just opposite the Hauptwache, invites visitors to a Christmas shopping spree.
Since 2021, the Roßmarkt has also been part of the Frankfurt Christmas Market, meaning that the overall market extends from the Roßmarkt across the Zeil shopping promenade all the way down to the Römerberg and the River Main.

DetailsThe History of Frankfurt's Christmas Market
The Frankfurt Christmas Market is indeed no ordinary event. Its history has been traced back to 1393, when first reference thereof was made in official documentation. The market was traditionally accompanied by the performance of ecclesiastical mystery plays, which were also held on the Römerberg.
