The city tour through Frankfurt by bike starts in the apple wine district of Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen. Cycle to the southern bank of the Main, the Museum Riverbank, which is home to many renowned museums such as the Städel, the Museum of Communication and the Film Museum. The tour continues across the Holbeinsteg footbridge to the other side of the river Main and into Frankfurt's Old Town to the Römer town hall, St Paul's Church and St. Bartholomew's Cathedral. From there, the route continues past Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's birthplace through the "Wallanlagen", a medieval fortification that today forms a green ring around Frankfurt's city centre, past the Old Opera and on to the east of the city. At the European Central Bank with the former wholesale market hall, you return to the banks of the Main and cross the bridge back into the apple wine district.
